This is my favorite brand of astaxanthin thus far. I do believe it works! I have noticed a significant reduction in joint pain (when combined with a no-sugar diet) and this stuff works like a natural sunscreen! Both my wife and I have noticed we tan so much easier while taking this product. Our skin is healthy, smooth and clear and knowing that this contains powerful antioxidant components (said to be 6,000 times more powerful than vitamin C) is certainly a positive! If you're unaware of the potential benefits of astaxanthin, it's worth some research because it's pretty incredible stuff... Because it's fat-soluble, that means it has the capacity to integrate itself into virtually every cell, organ and tissue of your body to provide anti-oxidant protection to neutralize free radicals. This could mean significant benefits over time for many aspects of your health.
One important detail that hardly anyone talks about when taking this product... It's most beneficial to take along with some food that has fat in it, since without the fat it may not absorb as effectively. So eat some cheese or something when you take it, or maybe a spoonful of olive, avocado, fish or coconut oil. Take it daily without exception and expect that it could take up to a month before you really start noticing effects.
My wife and I were just taking it without thinking about it and about a month and a half in someone said, "Wow, you guys are tan and you look great!" We chuckled and never really noticed it because we don't spend tons of time in the sun, but apparently the little bit we do each day was making a difference. I pair this product along with a no-sugar diet (for the purpose of eliminating as much inflammation as possible) and a low-carb/ketogenic lifestyle and I have literally experienced a massive (if not total) reduction in joint pain! Before I started this path (not quite four months ago) I had terrible joint pain in my knees (especially my right knee that has a torn meniscus that I have been avoiding surgery for). I also have suffered with lower back pain and some arthritis in my fingers. I now have literally no more knee pain at all. It's gone! Even the meniscus is like I never had a problem with it (and no surgery needed)! My lower back pain... gone! My finger pain, extremely reduced.
So... the question is, is it really the astaxanthin that is the reason? Or is it the other factors like no sugar and low carb diet? Is it a combination of both? I don't know for sure... but I do know that, even before I was on a ketogenic diet, I experienced positive effects from this supplement, so I believe it helps and will continue to take it.

Skin Hair and Nails ++
I've been taking BioAstin for almost 3 months now and am VERY pleased with the results. I started with the lower dosage and then after finishing that bottle, went to the 12mg dosage. I actually started taking it solely based on the fact of it's antioxidant value. I had read great reviews on joints, sun protection, etc., but being a lifelong supplement taker (I'm 48), I didn't expect anything to be outstanding. Well, I was pleasantly mistaken and have gotten absolutely beautiful results. During the last few years I started getting a form of Ichthyosis (a buildup of thickening dead skin layers), on my temples and in my scalp that was unexplainable by my dermatologist. Because of the buildup, it was causing some hair thinning. My hair is extremely long (past my knees), so I could really notice the thinning. In addition to the Ichthyosis, I've had a lifelong problem growing my fingernails. They have always been extremely thin and they would just layer apart. Lastly, I had some unexplained places around my ribcage that would itch (no rash or redness), and would drive me crazy during the day. Well, 3 months into taking BioAstin I noticed huge differences. The Ichthyosis is completely gone, and I notice a ton of new hair coming in, so much so that I had to switch to a larger hair clip. The itching is also completely gone, and my fingernails are fantastic (see pic). They were so short before you could see my finger past the nail bed. When I do get an occasional pimple, it clears up in less than half the time, and my random dark spots on my face and hands are almost completely gone. I am hoping to see the cholesterol results some other people have experienced, as I am borderline. I'll update that when I figure that out. As far as wrinkles and energy, they improved just a little bit. Maybe those things will improve with more time. Now, I really can't say that I've noticed any improvement on eyesight or joint discomfort. However, I can also say that the last time a group of us were working outside, I was the only one that didn't get sunburnt (no sunscreen). I may forget to take my multivitamin some days, but never forget my BioAstin. I wrote this review of my own free will with no discounts or urging from BioAstin.UPDATE: I forgot to mention that you will most likely get a reddish orange color to your stool/poop. I kind of freaked out on this initially until I researched it being a (in color only) side effect.

I'm a healthy individual overall, I didn't noticed impressive results while taking the BioAstin Astaxanthin (but that applies to most supplements for me). But I do think it's a great beauty and wellness supplement which adds antioxidants and healthy fats to the diet; I also like the addition of a small dosage of Vitamin E.
While taking Astaxanthin than my skin felt more hydrated than usual, with less dry patches. My nails grew stronger/thicker, but I didn't noticed any hair growth (or less fall-out) benefits. I did experienced some breakouts while taking this and my face skin seemed a little more oily, but I cannot 100% asses it was Astaxanthin. In terms of skin, hair and nails, I would compare results on me with taking Biotin (although I have seen better results with Astaxanthin). I'm very careful with my SPF so I rarely get sunburns; I would definitely not rely on Astaxanthin for sun protection, but I did noticed that after long hikes in the sun my skin felt somehow better/less uncomfortable.
In terms of joint support I noticed more mobility and less pain during joint stressful workouts, but no major improvements; a joint-support supplement taken long term works best for me than Astaxanthin. In terms of recovery and endurance I didn't get visible results, but extra antioxidants don't hurt with combating the oxidative stress of being very active.
I wear protective glasses while using the computer for extended periods of time, but have no major eye sight issues. I did noticed my eyes being slightly less dry then usual.
I didn't noticed any improvements in immunity, I got both seasonal allergies and flu symptons while taking Astaxanthin.
The pills are quite small, easy to take; I didn't noticed any smell or taste personally; they didn't caused me any stomach issues, burping or bad breath. It took ~2-3 weeks to start noticing skin/nail and joint improvements; once I stopped taking this supplement my skin when back to `dry patches` in about 1 week.
