How the IR Repeater Kit works
The setup is very is simple.
You will simply place the included distribution block in a location near where you wish to keep the devices you need to control with your remotes. From this block, you will run the provided IR receiver cable (or the eye of the kit) from the distribution block and place it in a location where you can point the remote control at, this may be on the bezel of the TV, on a shelf ledge, the wall or other such locations. You will need to place this IR receiver no further than 30' from where you will be using the remote control.
Now, plug one of the emitter cables into the distribution block and run that cable to where you have your devices being controlled located. You will place one emitter head from this cable over the IR receiver on the devices being controlled.
Lastly, simply plug the repeater kit into power using the supplied power adapter and you're ready to go!

Additional Important Notes
Plugging directly into IR ports on devices: On some devices you may notice IR in/out ports. You MAY be able to use a Male to Male cable to connect our kit with such devices. We cannot promise that this will always work. It will depend on whether the device manufacturer has wired their port the same was as our kit and also handles the signal in the same manner. We have verified that many Onkyo & Denon devices do work with this but cannot make promises as to this.
Plasma TV's: Plasma TV's emit stray infrared signals. In some rare cases these stray signals may interfere with operation of the kit. In such cases simply moving the IR receiver slightly further from the TV will resolve this issue. LED & LCD TVs do not have this problem.
Extending via CAT5 lines: For this we offer a prepackaged CAT5 adapter kit that may be purchased separately. The parts may also be obtained individually on their own as needed.

Customers are mixed about the signal strength of the wireless signal repeater. Some mention that it picks up remote signals perfectly, and the signals reach the devices almost instantaneously. However, others say that the IR signal is too strong for the XBOX 360 sensor, and other devices aren't getting a clean signal. The receiving end is good and sensitive, while the blaster side seems to be extremely picky. The downside is that the reception angle and range on the RF receiver are somewhat limited, and a few weeks of use, the range of the remotes began to diminish.

Customers have mixed opinions about the length of the cables in the wireless signal repeater. Some mention that the cables are generously long, while others say that the cords are very short. The repeater is able to handle that long a feed cable, but some customers say that they need to buy an extension.
"...The long leads on the cables also means that you don't have to have your equipment closely spaced, and can even be in any location at all that is..." Read more

My situation only required one transmitter and only a couple feet of wire. Got it all hooked up (receiver and control box mounted to the side and back of the cabinet) and it works great. The only thing that could be better? I tried to plug a patch cord from the transmitter output to the IR input on the back of my Onkyo receiver. It did not work. Tried the MR input, too, and it did not work either. Had to do the stick-on transmitter over the IR window on the front of the unit. Not a deal breaker, but not having the little stick-on glued to receiver would be nice. Anybody know why this did not work?
Seller, I am so sorry for the above post I made wrongly. In fact, the review made above was of another piece of equipment (HDMI splitter) I bought on ebay, as you can see in the message itself the ebay quote.
About the infrared repeater, I have to say that the device is well built and works very well.
However, I bought this device to use with the Marantz PMD320 cd player, but it didn't work.
Again, sorry for the mistake.
To The Point: I installed this system and...it WORKS GREAT! The "stickum" on the IR receiver and emitters is VERY "ADHESIVE" and the package comes with a couple EXTRA "stickum" pads for the receiver and emitters if needed. For the Emitter heads, make sure you mount them in the "right places" as they are QUITE DIFFICULT to remove (if you're "careful", you can re-attach a removed emitter ONCE). The IR RECEIVER is VERY SENSITIVE - heed the instructions regarding WHERE to put the receiver "in relation to" what you're controlling. The "viewing angle" of the receiver appears to be QUITE LARGE - between 30 and 45 degrees, so you do have some "latitude" on placement in your Viewing Area.
Using "multiple" receivers: The Instructions ARE NOT KIDDING by stating keeping a TWENTY FOOT SEPARATION between multiple receivers in "the same" area! As stated above, they are VERY SENSITIVE and if they're closer than 20 feet THEY WILL "interact", rendering proper operation virtually impossible!
Emitter mounting: some devices will need "tape blocking" (using OPAQUE "black" tape) around the emitter placement area to, again, prevent "interaction" between the System IR Receiver and the "device's" IR receiver. Again, this "interaction" can prevent proper IR control of the device, especially if the repeater receiver and the "device" receiver are closer than 3-4 feet from each other. Experiment with receiver/emitter placement/tape "blocking" for best "Total System" operation.
"Extending" IR receivers and emitters: if the provided cord lengths on the receivers and emitters are "too short" for your setup, use readily-available 1/8" (3.5mm) M-F MONO (for the emitters) and STEREO (for the receiver) extension cables for the purpose. They WILL NOT "degrade" the signals!
One "nit": the 12VDC power adapter's 3' "power cord" is WAY TOO SHORT to reach the Main Unit from an AC outlet! chances are you WILL need a "2-prong" AC extension cord to connect the adapter into AC power!
Conclusion: Some have reported "reliability issues" with this system. I can't comment on this because I "just started" using it as of this posting, listing the "quirks, etc." I've discovered. I'll update this review after I've had the system for awhile.
As of now, I ** DO INDEED RECOMMEND ** this system (the "nit" notwithstanding :) ).
Devices:
- Onkyo HT-RC560
- Cisco ISB7005 DVR (ATT uverse wireless STB)
- Pace IPH8010 DVR (ATT uverse master STB)
- PS3 with Harmony IR to Bluetooth adaptor.
- Harmony 650 remote
What works:
The PS3 and Onkyo work and are as responsive as when I had them configured in the living room without using the repeater. It was easy to attach the IR emitters and took no adjustments to find where it needed to be. Just right over the IR sensor worked great.
What doesn't work:
At first I was trying to control the Pace IPH8010 with the Logitech Harmony 650 as I had from the mantle. It would work for a few button presses and then would go 10+ without registering. Making it near impossible to use the DVR or type numbers in to navigate. I tried moving the IR emitter location, turning off all lights, putting tape on the emitter, and nothing worked. I then decided to switch out the Pace master DVR with another STB, the Cisco ISB7005. This suffered from the same issues. I contacted BAFX and they provided me very good email support, with 24 hour turn around, with detailed pictures of best places to have the IR emitters on the specific STB's I had. I moved them there and still had the same issues. They also guessed it may be an issue isolated to the Harmony remote. I put batteries in the provided ATT remote and it worked like a champ. So while the harmony 650 remote worked on the mantle fine with the same STB's, it will not work after going through the BAFX repeater. For now I am stuck with two remotes the Harmony for all action other than the DVR which I use the ATT remote.
Overall I am happy with the product and would buy it again. I would caution people that have the Harmony 650 remote and U-verse as you may run into the same issues I did.
Top reviews from other countries
There are no delays with transferring signals and it is very sensitive, and my Roku is working better then before. The repeater is flashing the signals directly to the Roku's receiver so I can controls it from further and wider angle (My Roku can only receive signals when I stand right in front of it with my remote which is very annoying. Now it solves the problem).
Its not the cheapest but it is worth it. I will recommend this to all of my friends.
