Product Description

Yomega Power Brain XP

The Yomega Power Brain XP TM is two high performance yo-yos in one! Designed for both beginner and intermediate play, this yo-yo uses a “Smart Switch” to enable the player to choose between automatic and manual function with the flick of a switch. Beginners can easily get a sense of accomplishment while they learn how to handle the yo-yo in the automatic return mode. As their skills increase, they can switch to manual mode for longer, faster spin times and tricks that are more challenging.

From the Manufacturer

XP stands for extended play! The Power Brain XP yoyo is designed for both beginner and intermediate styles of play. This yoyo features a smart switch, which enables players to change between automatic and manual returns with the flick of a switch. The XP features a clear window cap on one side that enables players to see the gears and Yomega’s iconic X logo on the other side, which was first made famous when they launched The Yomega X-Brain in the late 1990’s. The Power Brain XP yoyo is great for beginner and intermediate players alike. In the auto return mode, this yoyo will return to the hand automatically. Once players have mastered the basic trick of making the yoyo sleep (spin) at the end of the string, players can flip a switch on the side of yoyo to change to a manual return. This provides total control so that players can master more advanced tricks.

This yo yo is incredible! As a child, I NEVER knew how to play with one of them. But I always had an interest. I somehow stumbled onto the YoyoTricks.com website, and was impressed with the videos. I didn't realize there's a right and wrong way to throw this toy. They highly recommended the Yomega Brain for absolute beginners like myself. Today, after practicing on/off a couple hours, I have now learned how to make the yo yo sleep, akwardly! Sleeping the yo yo is the foundation of most of your tricks! This is a milestone for a rookie like me; but slowly I'm starting to catch on! I read one Amazon review about the Yomega Brain where a man was 86 years old and was just starting to play with one! There's hope for me then.

I must also give a shout out to Harry Baier's book "Yo-Yo World Tricks Book " It peaked my interest as well. It's a delightful book about the subject with cute illustrations. I really think I've found a new hobby! This is unbelievable as I love living in this age of computers and technology, but there is something about the yo yo that keeps it exciting! And technology has revived this toy as it makes it easier to learn how to play with it.

Bought this for my 4 year old who wanted a yoyo for Christmas. It seems to be very good quality and looks great. With a little adjustment in the length of the string, he was able to begin learning. It's relatively easy to wind and seems to be very well balanced. He's probably a ways away from sleeping the yoyo, but when he does, the auto return function will be very helpful. If he ever wants to turn the auto return off, it's as simple as flipping a switch on the side of the yoyo. I think this was the best possible purchase for a yoyo that is easy to operate and can grow with the user as their abilities change.

Very good Yoyo, but best for beginners. The auto return function is amazing! Given what it does I would expect it to cost more! However once you start getting good at Yoyo, if you continue to advance, you're going to want a Yoyo that YOU are in control of, NOT an auto return one. This Yoyo actually fixes all that. It has a switch that allows you to turn the auto return off. I tested it, and I'll be darned the thing works! Unbelievable! So here's the lowdown; this is a very good beginners Yoyo. It has a good hand feel. It's just heavy enough, sleeps well, and seems to be durable. The switchable Auto-Return function is perfect for younger kids just learning Yoyo. If you get hooked, this will not be your only Yoyo.

Well, I had my first 'incident' with this Yoyo. I gave it a throw into a long sleep and it made a crunching noise. Rather than examine the yoyo when it returned, I threw it again. It spun, unscrrewed itself, and one half of the yoyo went off across the floor. I found the pieces, and it looked like one was missing, but that was not the case. I put it back together, and it still works just fine. Still agood yoyo, and an example of what happens when engineering meets fun. Take care when it makes a weird sound! Don't blame the yoyo if it's telling you somethings wrong!

I was having a difficult time finding yo-yo's at local shops but as is the case when i usually turn to amazon.com they had what i needed. The ball bearings in this yo-yo are great for making the toy "sleep" from which you can perform various tricks. This toy in particular has a switch which allows the yo-yo to either retrieve itself automatically or manually. I was also surprised by the durability, a friend asked to try it and on the first attempt smashed it into the floor. I feared it was broken but there was barely as scratch on it. Awesome yo-yo especially for the price!

Unbelievable. At age 84 I am playing yoyo for the first time in my life. So easy, almost like cheating, but it sure was satisfying to be in control of that little yoyo going up and down.

And it worked first time, just out of the box.

I ordered the red one but got the green one, they say it could be any color, but that was no problem. I didn't buy it for the color but for ease of learning to play yoyo. And I most certainly got my money's worth.

I got this as a much better alternative to a fidget spinner, because you can actually do tricks with a yoyo. Great for learning the absolute basics of getting a yoyo to come up and go down, but that's about it. The Auto feature is amazing, it's not like a yoyo ball in that it doesn't automatically come up, you still have to use your wrist to "flick" it up, which is awesome, because that's how you learn. After about a day, you can switch it to manual, and you'll notice that you can do it on your own! But that's where the good stuff ends. It only sleeps for on average 4 full seconds, and I know it's not just because I'm brand new, other people have made the same exact comment about this yoyo. So after you learn how to make it go up and down, you are pretty much stuck buying another yoyo if you want to continue and start learning tricks. I gave it 3 stars because it either came in damaged, having scuff marks in the plastic, or it happened from falling on my carpet floor while learning. Either way is pathetic for a 15 dollar yoyo.

This is just a really random, fun toy to have around. I may be over 30, but still enjoy grabbing a yoyo and doing tricks once in a while.

One caution for those buying their first automatic yoyo: the instructions are really tough to follow, so plan on doing some internet research for instructions or tracking down demos on youtube. If you rely on the instructions in the package, you'll be disappointed in the yoyo!

As someone who is awful at balance and sports in general, I find the YOYO incredibly enjoyable, even when I'm terrible at it. This YOYO is perfect for people like me, because you have more control over what type of response the string gives you. My friends always ask me if they can play with it, and these friends are aged 24-63 haha - good times for all ages I guess!
