I have an original Platinum Carbon pen and this works great with it. It's always on my desk where I can take it out and write something, then put it back it with no hassling with a cap. Although it doesn't have a tight fit, my pen doesn't dry up, even when I went on vacation for a couple of weeks and came back to my job where I keep it. The Platinum Carbon pens are great, and this pen holder is too.

I'm going to repeat part of my review on the double stand, what fountain pens I've found that fit this. A Platinum Carbon Desk Fountain Pen, Super Fine(DP-800S#1) is a good fit, but Platinum's own DPQ-700A Desk Pen is a bit too thick. It only goes in part way and doesn't seem very secure. Pilot makes a DPN-70 desk pen which fits very well. I would think that most ballpoint desk pens would fit too loosely, but don't really know.

Other than that, this is not by any means a luxury item. It's simple, attractive enough, and functional, but it's not a fancy decorative holder. It's nicely weighted to keep it in place on your desk and seems well made.

This desk pen stand is pretty simple, with a plastic base and brass hardware (or hardware that looks like brass). It's not a particularly interesting design but it has a *little* style, tapering both in height and width toward the front. It's also got a matte finish on the black plastic, which helps avoid fingerprints.

I have the Platinum Carbon desk pen, and I was surprised that it didn't go in with any friction at all. The cap that comes with the pen is a little tight (similar in feel to a Bic pen), so that's what I was expecting. Instead, the pen just pops in and out without any sense of friction until it bumps up against the inside end. It's convenient and kind of fun to just pull the pen out of the stand with one hand, write something, and then toss it back in without the usual concern a tight cap to keep the pen from drying out.

And the pen hasn't dried out! I've had it in there for about four hours, and I would have expected the air to get to it with the seeming lack of an airtight fit on the base, but I've had no hard starts. Very impressed so far!

Holds the platinum/pilot desk pens nicely, though I would prefer it to have an actual inner seal, I haven't seen it actually dry out the nib when left for days at a time. Very professional, looks nice on a desk, nicely weighted, lets you have a touch of flare with a fountain pen on your desk at all times.

An alternative use for these is that they seem to also hold many glass dip pens nicely as well, which is a fun way to store them safely.

Looks really nice with the Platinum Carbon desk pen that is designed to go in it. It keeps the pen nib clean, keeps the ink fresh (it has not once let the ink dry out in the month+ that I have owned it), and is very affordable as well as a nice companion to the Platinum Carbon Desk Pen - which can't be beat! It seems that this holder may be phased out soon, to be replaced by the clear, transparent model. I happen to think this one looks so much nicer.
...and Don't get the pen without this.... trust me, you will be glad you did!
