I received this ukulele as a birthday present. The tuner really comes in handy because I didn't have to buy one separately. I believe mine has Aquila strings, which is another plus. The red color looks very nice.
I got this as a late birthday gift from a friend. I have only dabbled in playing guitar and that was years ago, I learned a few cords because a roommate had one and showed me. I bought a 12 string at a thrift store / pawn shop in Mississippi thinking I would learn and I tightened the strings so tight trying to tune it that the neck broke one day while I was away. That's how clueless I was.
But I have hardly been able to put it down since I got it. A friend at work used the tuner to tune it on the first day and attached a little post it note so I can remember which notes are which. It's a perfect beginner instrument. Small enough to carry with you anywhere like a toy. But sounds good enough to make you want to play it like a serious instrument. Just watching the mid level Hawaiian guy at work play it taught me enough to experiment with a few cords. It's so fun to figure out and sounds so good you just don't want to put it down. When it's new the strings stretch a lot and it falls out of tune. But that's normal for a new ukulele according to my Hawaiian friends. But it's so simple and fun to use the built in tuner to get it back in tune that you just don't have to "fret" about it... hhaha..get it? Ok, nevermind. One way or another this is a perfect beginner instrument. And it sounds good enough for the advanced player in my novice opinion. The build quality is really good, finish is very nice and clean/subtle. The tiki man etched on the base string bridge looks so cool. All in all a classy fun musical instrument. 2 of the screws on the back of the tuning knobs were a little loose so just wiggle the knobs gently and see if there's movement on the plate. Nothing a careful turn with a small phillips head screwdriver can't fix. If not for that I'd give it 5 stars as a solid entry level ukelele. But what do I know. I'm only a beginner.
