Product Description

A capacitor is an electric component that temporarily stores an electrical charge. A dual "run capacitor" supports two electric motors, such as a fan motor and a compressor. Round dual run capacitors are used to start and run the unit more efficient. It saves space by combining two physical capacitors into one case. The dual capacitor has three terminals labeled "C", "FAN", and "HERM", which stand for the *C*ommon, Fan, and *HERM*etically sealed compressor.

Dual capacitors come in a variety of sizes, depending on the capacitance (µF = MFD = micro farad), such as 60 plus 5 µF, and also the voltage. A 440 volt capacitor can be used in place of a 370 volt, as it is build better, but the 370 can’t be used in place of a 440 volt. It will work for a while and will fail prematurely, as exceeding the capacitor's rated voltage will cause the dielectric to break down and the capacitor to short out. Same as an electric wire- 600V rated wire is better than 300V one .The capacitance(µF or MFD or micro farad) must be the same or stay within 10%+ or 5%- of its original value . Example: 60 µF cap can be substituted by 57 - 66 MFD with the same or better voltage ratings capacitor.

If your fan is working but compressor not, or the capacitor is bulged on top most likely your capacitor is defective. Round capacitor can be used to substitute oval shape one with the same MFD AND Volt specs.

You will ask “Why I need a Cap that is rated 440V in my A/C?”

Answer: You need to realize that a motor is an inductive device. When the supply voltage is applied to the motor run winding, the voltage across the start winding will be increased to a higher voltage value. A motor acts like a transformer with the run winding acting as the primary and the start winding acting as the secondary. This is why the capacitor has a much higher voltage rating than the 230 being the supply voltage.

If a Capacitor is not EIA-456-A approved means it is NOT approved for USA market.

*** (1) MONTH REVIEW - Works PERFECTLY and SOLVED our A/C issue!! ***
*** UPDATE - (1 MONTH REVIEW) ***I did a lot of research to learn why our A/C was blowing hot air and was about to call a technician to troubleshoot it, since it went bad last month in August 2018 and was close to 100 degrees outside the house during the day and at night time it was 85 degrees inside the house while sleeping. I learned the capacitor went bad for one of our A/C units, so I ordered two of the same capacitors to replace both of them just in case our A/C unit for upstairs system goes bad since they both originally came with the house 12 years ago.Replacing these was actually extremely super easy and I thought it would be hard to do until I watched several videos on YouTube video on how to replace the capacitor. It took me less than 15 minutes for each unit and I just use standard tools to remove the cover plate and disconnect the capacitor. After flipping the power switch back on to the unit, I immediately felt cold air into the house and we finally had a good night of sleep in nice cool house!!!It has been over a month now and it's still working strong with absolutely no issue. I hope it last as long as our previous capacitor did. The first (4) pictures is what my original rusty capacitor looked like for both A/C units (don't mind my little dog, she loves to watch me while I work) and the last photo I cleaned the area before I installed the new capacitor.

My Air conditioning fan would turn on then turn off and would not run. Found this run start capacitor for this awesome price. Local places were going to charge me more than $50 for the same part. I opted to order from this seller and he sent it Tom the NEXT DAY. I was so happy because the coming days were going to be 100 degrees! Also I have elderlies that are staying with us so it was a more urgent, almost critical that we have air conditioning because of their health issues. Thank you All for helping my family and sending the part the next day.

Used this to replace a failed startup capacitor in my 6 year old Carrier AC unit and it worked fine. Got me going again in the middle of summer. I ordered another one to have ready on the shelf ready for the next time the cap in the AC fails which seems to be every 5 - 10 years and at the worst time (always seems to be the hottest part of the summer).

Two years ago, my AC capacitor went bad. I bought one of this to fixed it in April 2018. Then I bought a spare one in July 2018. That prove to be a good decisions. Yesterday the capacitor went bad again. It last a little more that two year. I hope it can last longer, but two years is Not that bad. I used the spare one yesterday and ordered another one today as spare. The only reason that I did not give 5 star is that I do not want to mislead the potential purchaser think it can last 10 years as some original capacitor came with the new AC. My friend is a AC technician and he told me that This type of cheaper capacitor will only last 1-2years.

When my wife called me as t work saying the A/C wasn’t working, my heart sank. I’d replaced capacitors on motors before (pool pump, A/C blower fan) so I hoped it was a quick fix. After a YouTube video, I had the unit opened so I could get the values from the old capacitor and had this on order. The only negative was the three day shipping. It was a rough couple of days!

The capacitor fit right in. Wiring was easy. The old cap was pretty rusty but I was able to read 2 of the labels. The unit started right up and has gotten us through so far.

Our air conditioner was working the fans in the house but there was no cool air. The compressor was not working.
Installation of capacitor involved loosening the holding bracket, removing old capacitor, removing the wires, connecting wires to new capacitor, putting capacitor in bracket and tightening.
Hit the reset button and the compressor and fan started.
Easy and inexpensive air conditioner repair. A/C worked fine all summer.

Worked perfectly for my air conditioning unit. I've had it for several months now and I've used my air conditioner for awhile since I had to replace my old one with this one as I googled around and read this could be the reason why my unit doesn't turn on. The product is a bit thinner then then my old one so I had to drill another hole into the metal strap to keep in place. This saved me a call to my air conditioner mechanic and money.
