Unfortunately, I am giving this a three star rating because I have a defective part and am waiting for it to be replaced. Overall it’s a good product, but I do caution anyone who is looking for a bench that they can use for step-ups, because the seat has wood (probably particle board) on the inside and will probably collapse under you. Some helpful advice when putting the XRS 20:Having a rubber mallet, socket wrench set, a hand held screwdriver, and an adjustable wrench are VERY important. The socket wrench makes it very easy for most of the carriage bolts.Step 2: Use the rubber mallet to get the carriage bolt into the hole all the way. One of my two holes was slightly too small and I was able to get the carriage bold flush with the mallet.Step 5: Finish attaching the front leg (4) to the Frame (1) with the four M4 x 19mm screws (51): On this step it is best to pre-screw the four screws because the hole is pretty tight and you will end up stripping the screw trying to tighten it to the Front Leg.Step 8: When they ask you to tighten the M8 x 10mm Set Screw (61) into the bottom of the Olympic Adapter; it is important to know that the Set Screw is already in the Olympic adapter.Step 9: One of the three tubes is longer. Also, use the rubber mallet to get the Pad Cap in place, but try not to hit too hard so that it won’t break off. Oh and definitely don’t use your shin to hold that bottom one in place whilst you hammer away….it leaves a mark!Step 10: The bumper is already attached and the pin is already tethered. Only thing to do is to attach the curl bar. While setting up the squat rack, I had an issue with one of the Uprights. Where the Upright is connected to the left Base, the inside is misshapen so I had to take a rubber mallet and hammer it down to fit the base. But that still didn’t fix the problem. I called customer support to get a new replacement part, but so far am having trouble getting assistance because I am placed on 40 minute holds and then transferred to another department for just as long.Once I am able to replace the part I will update my rating. But to be honest, everything else is great. I like the sturdiness of everything and it looks like I will be able to get good use out of it.

Easy to assemble. Every fastener is grouped and labeled in vacuum wrap with cardboard backing. Instructions are great. After using it I noted that my elbows hit the safety catches when bench pressing and I am only 5’11”. I had to get a 7’ bar and my hands hit the rack when placing my middle fingers on the knurl free part of the barbell. The bench pad is wobbly. When the preacher curl attachment is removed to do leg workouts the pipe that receives the preacher curl is not to be sat on! A plastic cap is provided but fully inserting it may make it hard to get out. The knee extension pads have plastic end caps that could dig into your shins. I removed them. Knee flexion is way off as the upper pads are higher than the plane of the bench. The pressure above the knees is excessive with 50 lbs. it is pricey and the price fluctuates every few days. This was my second order. The first order from another vendor refunded my money after the status said shipped. I guess they didn’t tell Amazon because the status still says delayed even though the second order is in use. I only picked on the weaknesses of this product. It doesn’t help you if I list everything that was perfect. Everything not listed was perfect. Extremely heavy box. I brought it in the house piece by piece from the driveway. My kid reads in the box now. I have bench and squat rack. Everything in the picture. No Gold’s Gym logo.

Its been about a week and I love this thing. Mine didnt have the yellow pieces they were black but thats ok.. Over all very solid, dosn't tip or wobble on me at all. i love that i can move the bench and do squats. its like having two gym machines in one.. Only thing I'd like to change which i can do myself, is the screw in braces on the rack, takes time to move them up or down and i can tell over time the screws will eventually strip. something quicker like a pin or something would work great. The leg part comes all the way up so i get a full extension on my hamstrings, wish the padded part would roll with my leg as it goes up the calf but again, super small stuff and im extremely pleased with the quality and the price... Took me about 1.5hr to assemble with a simple ratchet set and wrench. gotta get a bar 72inch or longer to fit the rack correctly..

This bench looks awesome. It arrived about a week before it was scheduled which was great. It was packaged up tight and we had no issues unpackaging anything.

There was a tiny little bag of grease that you have to look for. We accidentally threw it to the side and ended up having to find it again.

It was very easy to put together when everything was going as planned. And you DO need more tools to put it up. We needed a socket set with up to 17mm (you’ll need a couple smaller ones too), a philips screwdriver, a mallet, and an adjustable wrench. Minimum. (You’ll have to use the wrench and socket together to tighten)

There were a few pieces that did not line up for us. One of the uprights has a bow on a plate that gets screwed down to the leg, that I’ll have to get a mallet and try to hammer flush.
A piece on the seat did not line up with the frame so we had to finagle that for longer than expected.
And if you look at the pictures the backrest is crooked. It looks as though when the holes were drilled on the back that they were not lined up correctly so if you place the bench piece straight on. The backrest leans off to the side unfortunately.

Other than that it works as intended, and it’s very solid.

I’m pretty new to this stuff, but from my beginner’s perspective, this thing is great. I’ve been using it for about a month now and I love it. It does a lot, and feels good to use it. The box was SUPER heavy, and it took about 2hrs to assemble, but it wasn’t too difficult to put together. I had looked at similar setups in stores, but for this price, nothing came close to the sturdiness of this one; I feel totally confident in this equipment. I would definitely recommend it.

I would not recommend this bench and rack. Parts are warped making the wrack come off the ground on one side. the center part of the base of the rack was bent in and I had to use a hammer and pliers to straighten it out to get the parts to even go together. There is a sturdy, very sharp piece of metal sticking off of the rack that I am going to have to grind down before I slit my arm open on it when I am not paying attention. As for the bench it is not great if your not super short. I'm about average height at 6'1" and the bar for the preacher pad is pressed into a very uncomfortable place, if you remove the pad the bit that it fits into sticks up enough that it is still really uncomfortable.

The bench is sturdy and worth the price. My teenage son assembled the squat rack and bench himself! Shipment came in two parts and the packaging was damaged. But the equipment was intact. Great buy!
