This welder is pretty nice, I paid $118 dollars total for it with a 5% off coupon. The unit I received is different than the one pictured in the dimensions picture, it has a nice rotary encoder knob for the amperage adjustment with good detents and a built in button on the knob which cycles between fixed amperages for different sized electrodes. You can tell this is a mass produced machine they also sell in Europe because the switch is on the back and the electrode presets when the knob is pressed shows millimeters instead of imperial units, not a big deal though. In the description on here it says it has a 60% duty cycle at 160 amps but on my machine it shows it having only a 20% duty cycle at 160 amps (see pic), I haven’t tested it out yet to see because 99% of what I weld doesn’t require an electrode that large which would need that kind of amperage. I have not tested out the 110v function of it either due to my circuit in the garage being on a 15 amp breaker and my old 110v stick welder would set the breaker off every 5 minutes. The 110v capabilities will vary widely depending on how good your 110v circuit is. The ground clamp and stinger it came with are cheap and not very good, but that is to be expected and they will get the job done so I cannot fault them for working. Also the description says the leads for the ground and stinger are 10ft long, the ones I received were maybe 5 and a half if that. Not a big deal to me because I have other leads to use but might be an issue for you, but you can always go buy longer leads. I’ve ran 3/32 7018, 1/16 and 3/32 6013 and 1/8 6011 so far with this machine and they all run perfectly fine and the amperage readout seems to be pretty close for whatever size rod I’m running. Now the only question is to see how long this thing will actually last. If you want to get into stick welding I wouldn’t hesitate picking one of these things up and if you only have 110v power you will still be able to weld with it but your mileage may vary. For the folks that run this on 110v and keep tripping breakers I’d suggest running 3/32 6011 and 3/32 or 1/16 6013 those rods run pretty low amperage and will put less strain on your electrical circuit.

I'm a trained combination pipe welder (i.e. tig & stick), I worked as a welder in industrial construction (power plants, refineries, ship yards, etc.) for 10 years, have welded tig, stick, mig, and dual shield flux core on the job, went on to get my CWI (American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector) and I must say I'm very impressed with this little machine. Plugged it in to 110v and it welded a 3/32 7018 rod with no problem - it laid a very nice bead with good penetration, good wetting around the edges, and very little spatter.

Although some reviews said the stinger and ground clamp were cheap, the stinger I got is almost as good as a Tweco (the best you can buy) and the ground clamp was decent quality too. The leads could be longer, but they tell you the length, so there is nothing to complain about there.

Honestly, the only thing I could complain about would be the fact that the welding shield and chipping hammer/wire bush combo are an insult to the quality of the machine and leads you get! However, I won't complain about that because I suppose they would be useful as an everything you need to get started package (minus the welding materials of course) for a novice hobbyist. -A nice auto darkening welding hood can run $300+, and good chipping hammers and wire bushes are easy enough to find, so for someone just getting started, what they supply will be good enough till you decide you want to get a little more serious and spend more money.

One last thing, I used some good name brand welding rods from a welding supply that ran real good. Then i used some rods that I thought were good (a national name brand that I won't mention) from a farm supply store, and they threw so many spatter balls I couldn't believe it. So a word of advice, buy good rods!

This welder works much better than I thought it would. It's light weight and so much more convenient than arc welders used to be. I used it on 120v and it performed very well. Haven't tried it on 220v yet. But I will next time I use it. The welding mask that comes with it is trash which is where mine is now. Mask not withstanding, it's a very good unit for the price.

So just go this and ran a few simple test welds. It comes with a 220V cord with a 110V plug adaptor. So I plugged it into my 110V garage outlet and ran a few test welds. I used some older 6013 3/32 rods I've had sitting around for a while. I was a bit surprised that I had to crank them up to ~100 amps in order to get them to strike a good arc. It could be that the rods were old, or that I was welding on some material that wasn't very clean, but the good news it that the machine could push 100 amps on 110V.

Also, the machine is small and light. The ground clamp and stinger are pretty heavy duty for the price. The power cord is think and decent length. All in all, for a hundred bucks, this little machine seems to be a very nice casual home welder. It's a nice upgrade to the old AC buzz box I've been using that is much heaver and can't weld a 3/32 rod on 110V.

Arc seems a bit more stable on 240v, I use this frequently on 120v as well. Does great either way. I have burned 6011, 7018, and 7014 with it in single pass and multiple pass scenarios. Only goes to 105 amps on 120v, you get the full 160A on 240v. Has a decent duty cycle listed. There is a good youtube review on the welder out there, I recommend watching. A great little welder if it holds up. I have let several friends use it, that resulted in 4 more sales for ZENY. Also bought the ZENY inverter plasma cutter, equally impressed with it. The leads were a little short on the welder but bought some additional cam lock ends on here for $8.99 for 4 and made 12 ft lead extensions. Best buy for a welder under $100. The price crept up a bit when my friends were buying, there is a 5% coupon that we all used and I spent the additional money for the 3 year warranty. Very pleased so far.
